OPEC+ ministerial meeting.

OPEC+Energy

Production policy ahead of the 2027 baseline discussion.

The decision

The 42nd OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting is scheduled for 29 November.

Known baseline

The June statement retained the agreed overall production framework through 31 December 2026 and called for capacity assessments for 2027 baselines.

How it reaches markets

A credible supply increase can reduce crude prices relative to expectations. Demand weakness, compliance and disruption elsewhere can dominate the announcement.

What can limit the effect

Agreed production is not delivered supply. Capacity, compensation commitments and actual exports determine the physical effect.

Scenarios to compare

GT Team analysis · outcomes relative to expectations

More supply than expected

Crude may face pressure, benefiting some importers and refiners.

Evidence to checkCompare actual production and exports with the announced path.

Less supply than expected

Crude may be supported if demand holds.

Evidence to checkCheck inventories and demand indicators before assigning the move to policy.

What would weaken the thesis

A larger quota without higher observed output or exports weakens a supply-growth thesis.
